Working with pallets
While there is a "Pallet" load plan type it is sometimes needed to load cargoes on pallets and then load them into containers. This is sort of a "nested calculation" and is easily done in Cargo-Planner.
1. Create a load plan
We create a new load plan, enter the cartons we want to load and make sure the Palletize column is enabled for all the cargoes that we want to pre load on pallets:
2. Pallet setup
For containers we select a 40ft HC. Below the equipment selection panel you will find the Pallet panel. This panel shows which pallet types you have available for your current load plan. Click on the "Add pallet" button and you are faced with a dialog of available pallets:
If you cannot find the pallet type you are looking for you can create your own by clicking on the "Create" button in the bottom of the view
We select a Euro pallet and it will be added to our pallet selection.
Notice that by default the max loading height for pallets is 0 which means only one layer of cargoes will be loaded!
We change the "Max loading height" to 200cm. This means that cargoes cannot be stacked more than 200cm high on each pallet.
Make sure to set this setting so that the loaded pallets will actually fit the selected containers!
Example: You set the max loading height for the pallet to 250cm. The pallet itself is 10cm - which means that the total height is 260cm, but you think its okay as the internal height of the container is 270cm. However your forgot that the door height of the 40ft HC is 259cm - which means that the pallets might not be able to be loaded!
Now, lets check out the result!
3. Cargoes on pallets in containers!
We get 3 containers with all the cargoes pre loaded on pallets! Lets study one of the containers in the Interactive view
Looks nice right? We can also interact with the pallets in the way we can interact with cargoes.
The term "pallet" does not mean that the actual pallets needs to be - pallets. They can also be closed boxes.
Have a look at below example when we have created a closed box type:
When the pallet types is closed they can be stacked on top of each other
